Three Components of PM Kusum Yojana

Solar Power Plants on Farmland

Farmers, FPOs, cooperatives, and panchayats can set up solar power plants up to 2 MW.
The plants can be installed on barren, fallow, or unused agricultural land.
The electricity generated is sold to DISCOM companies through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
Farmers receive a fixed yearly income of around ₹50,000–60,000 per acre.

Standalone Solar Pumps

This part is popularly known as Kusum Solar Pump Yojana.
Government provides up to 90% subsidy.
Best for farmers who do not have electricity connections.
Available in 3 HP, 5 HP, 7.5 HP and higher capacities.

Solarisation of Existing Pumps

This component is for farmers who already have grid-connected pumps.
Solar panels are added to their system.

Farmers can use solar power for irrigation.
Extra electricity can be sold to DISCOM.
Helps farmers earn additional income.
