NRLM SHG: Complete Guide

How Does an SHG Work?
Form a Group
10 to 20 women from the same village come together voluntarily. They choose a name, a president, a secretary, and a treasurer.
Save Every Month
Each member saves a small fixed amount every month - even ₹50 or ₹100 is fine. Regular savings is the most important rule.
Hold Weekly/Monthly Meetings
The group meets regularly, maintains a register, and records all savings, loans, and repayments transparently.
Give Internal Loans
Members can borrow from the group's savings for emergencies, business, or education at a low interest rate decided by the group.
Get a Bank Loan (Credit Linkage)
After 3-6 months of active functioning, the group gets a bank account and can apply for bank loans at just 7% interest per year.
Get Government Funds
NRLM gives a Revolving Fund (₹10,000-₹15,000) and Community Investment Fund to active groups. These are grants - not loans to repay!
5 Golden Rules NRLM SHG follow (called Panchasutra)

Every member saves a fixed amount every month without fail.
